ToothFairy Alert!

The first tooth finally came out. Kate has been waiting for this day to come and was thrilled when Daddy wiggled it around and then was holding it his hand. Kate had a look of disbelief that turned into a great big grin.

New Neighbors

We had a new family move in our backyard. A family of Falcons have been living in the trees behind us and hanging out on the fence just feet away from our house. We realized they were there when they kept running into our windows. We would here a big bang, look out the window and the baby bird (on the right) would run into 5 different windows in the back and then around the side windows too. We think it could see itself in the tinted window. One day I came home and it was sitting on my wreath on the front door. We have loved our new neighbors because they keep the unwanted mice neighbors away :)!

Easter Traditions

Every Easter is busy with coloring eggs....finding Easter baskets....getting beautiful in new Easter clothes for church....and of course the Easter egg hunt that goes on forever because Grammy feels to many Easter eggs :).

Planting Our First Garden

Since we don't have a lot of yard for a garden we planted our first garden at Grumpy's. (Grandpa Hansen)
We have been eating a lot more vegetables these days and drinking a lot of green smoothies. We decided it was time to try and grow some of our own since the grocery bill seems to be getting bigger and bigger. The kids were so excited to help out!

Daddy and Hazen Had a Birthday!

For Daddy's birthday we had the Nielsen's out. Casey wanted them all to come over and celebrate since they are such a big part of who he is today.

Turning Four

Jace had his fourth birthday and we celebrated all weekend. Friday we went to dinner with Grandma and Grandpa. Saturday we took Jace to the movie "Rango", but ended up leaving because it wasn't a good movie for the kids. The day got better when we went to Kenzie's surprise 18th Princess party. Jace couldn't have been more happy and probably thought the party was for him as he ran around in his knight costume getting much liked attention. Sunday we had my family all come down for cake and ice cream. Jace's favorite thing was being sung HAPPY BIRTHDAY too. The week before and after his birthday he kept saying Hap Birday Me! It was so cute but we finally had to tell him his birthday is over. Another year older and in the last few months Jace has shown a lot of improvement in his speech.

This was also my first attempt to make a good but healthy cake. It was just Ok... needs more work I think. :)

Dr. Seuss

Kate is reading so well now. Her favorite books to read are Dr. Seuss. She wakes up as early as 6 a.m. every morning. Many times we send her back to bed but she comes in 5 minutes later and asks if it is ok to wake up now. Now we have her get her books and read until it's time for everyone to get up

Family Ski Day!

Jace got his day out skiing...finally! This time he didn't get left behind and our whole family got to ski together. Sunnie also came with us which ended up being a great help and a lot of fun. Josie is getting really good. We about lost Kate off the lift, along with in the powder where she fell a lot on purpose. Jace had a permanent grin, while Daddy got a good workout holding onto him, and I didn't drop the camera....amazingly.

Farewell

Yes it is true....I have said farewell to my good friend coke. There is no doubt I truly loved and still miss my swig or burn of coke everyday. I was convinced I didn't have a problem because my limit was one coke a day and I only was drinking half the can before it lost its burn and got dumped down the drain. But since it has taken me two weeks to write this blog because I wasn't convinced I could let it go, I am thinking an addiction was there. So here it goes....It has been 18 days since I drank my last coke. Now what to do with my year supply of coke that is in the garage? Happy Birthday Dad! :)

Beauty Queens

Miss Weber County goes to....?
This year Peggi was involved with Miss Weber County and needed little girls to hand flowers to the the contestants as they walked across the stage. Of course my girls were so excited to help out and even more thrilled when they put those shiny crowns on their heads. Josie went to bed saying "I will never forget this wonderful day....it has already been an hour since the show was over.....I miss it already". Future contestant? I don't know...I am not sure how I feel about that. :) Although their is no doubt that my girls are royalty to me!

Best Ski Day Ever!

Casey and I went skiing for Valentines a little early but we had the best ski day ever. We went to Powder on Friday and it seemed we had the mountain to ourselves. It seems every time I have been to Powder it is overcast, cold, and windy. Not this day! You could see Logan and Ogden and all of Powder that I never knew existed. Happy Valentines Day to us!

Yes! I am a Green Smoothie Girl

Finally....the day has come. I made my first green smoothy. Today I went to Costco and I broke down and bought the blender I have been wishing for for many months. It took all my grocery money and more to buy it so now we will have to wait a while to eat many yummy foods but, i am so thrilled! Kate was the first one to try my smoothy and liked it. A little sweeter next time maybe but I thought it was tasty. Spinach, Orange and Banana, YUM!

PB and J

Oh if life were as simple as peanut butter and jelly! I was making a sandwich for Kate and Jace and was so happy that they love pb & j because it makes my life so much more simple. I can feel good about feeding it to them and it is so easy to make. For me (who hates to cook), I really am thankful for pb & j and wish more things in life could be as easy!

Kate Skiing

This is Kate's second time skiing. Her dad almost gave up before lunch but she started getting the hang of it after lunch. She said, "It is a lot more fun when you aren't falling."

Grandpa (Gary) joined us for the ski day. He spent a lot of time skiing with Josie and then taking turns with Kate. He said it was one of the funnest days he has had in a long time.

What is an Appendix?

My Dad found out the hard way what his appendix was and now no longer has one!

Josie turned Nine

Nine years old! Josie wanted to go skiing for her birthday again this year. This is the third birthday we took her skiing. I think she must like to ski! Casey and I took her to Powder Mountain. It was very cold and she didn't complain once. I even wanted her to so we could go to the lodge sooner. My toes were frozen...
She asked if she could have pumpkin pie instead of a birthday cake this year and also got a new hair cut that makes her look even older. She is a wonderful daughter and sister and we love her a lot!!!!

Stitches!

During our last evening at St. George, Jace tripped and fell face first into the coffee table. His two top teeth went through his bottom lip leaving two large teeth imprints into table. We rushed him to the hospital where he had to get stitches. We had to have him "put out" so he would hold still and stop trying to grind his teeth out.
The event was very traumatic for him but even more for me. I was so thankful they didn't have to pull his teeth since his "SMILE" is such a special part of him.
I wish I would have taken a picture of him with his swollen top lip that stuck out about an inch and was black and blue, but the day we had his stitches out we took his picture.

Grandpa's Surprise

For Grandpa Diemel's (Grandpa II) birthday we went to St. George for a big surprise party. It was a great evening for everyone. We had fun dancing to Johnny and Brad's band. What a wonderful tribute to Grandpa.
Because the kids had a few days out of school we had a nice vacation away from the freezing temperatures at home. The kids had a blast playing at the neat parks and riding their scooters they got for Christmas for the first time.

Too Cute!

What more can I say but too cute! Jace is doing really well at his speech therapy. If he does his work well for teacher Shelly he gets to play the girls DS. He has no problem saying DS and it is the first thing he says when we get to the car. The DS has been a great helper even with potty training. Maybe it is time to get him his own so he doesn't have to play the pink DS anymore!

Our New Car

One exciting new addition to the family was our new car. We were so excited to have something that would start the first time you turned the key and even more important was the third row seat. No more "She is touching me or He hit me"! I couldn't be more thrilled....
Oh! and the year supply of coke that came with the car was exciting too but didn't help me make a new years resolution to stop drinking coke. :)

Happy New Year! 2011

The year 2011 has begun and the best years of my life
are flying by. I want to start a blog to
help us remember these
special times together.

Ringing in the new year was always a fun
time for me when I was a little girl.
I remember staying up late playing
Monopoly and banging pans
at midnight.
We had to ring in the year a little
sooner than midnight
this year....
